Impakt Festival 2014Soft Machines
In 2014, the 25th edition of the Impakt Festival was celebrated with the theme ‘Soft Machines’. The festival explores the intersection of affect and machines, taking the concept of empathy as both its' content and form.
For the festival campaign, we focussed on the point where humanity will no longer be able to control or understand the evolution of technology, due to our species' physical and intellectual limitations. This hypothetical point in time is referred to as ‘singularity’. As we’re incapable of predicting or visualising what this will embody, we found a metaphor in a ever-changing coloured haze that clouds our vision of the future.
In the print-work, this coloured haze was realised by iris-printing all paper used for the campaign, resulting in a giant stack of different structured gradients and a whole lot of unique posters, flyers and programme books. To see a video of this process, please click here.
